Modest Sapeur

Hi guys, it’s been ages, so much has happened since my last post , I can’t wait to share with you. I really missed writing.

Today, I want to share some amazing work I did recently. My inspiration were the sapeurs also known as the dandies of Brazzaville. I was so drawn to their very colourful attires and style that I decided to create the feminine version of it and I only had one person in mind, my Somali friend Anisa. If you have read “My Ramadan” post you will see I mentioned her there, I spent ramadan and Eid with her family.

We decided to get together to create beautiful images that illustrates and captures the beauty of wearing the hijab while being fun and experimental with the looks.  She had that natural gaze that was perfect for the shoot. Another thing that inspired me was the Afro punk movement, celebrating African cultures, prints and colours with their modern looks and styles.

Hope you guys enjoy my pictures.  I really want to know what you think. Please leave me a comment down below.
